That said, when I did use it the quality certainly wasn’t bad. I didn’t use the mic as much as I should have, I don’t generally speak much while gaming because as a blonde I have never found multitasking a major strength. There is a certain satisfaction to being able to hear clearly in these things. When listening to music, I found I could pick up notes fairly easily, while the surround sound worked very well in movies and games. This also means that even at the highest setting, your coworkers shouldn’t be able to hear what you are listening to. The over-the-ear muffs do a very good job of cancelling out noise from the rest of the world, so I wouldn’t recommend using these at work unless you don’t want to hear your boss yelling at you. The sound quality I found was generally excellent. While there is a report online about the supplied analogue to USB adapter for the headphones introducing some noise, I never encountered that. It weighs about 255 grams, which is light enough to allow for long periods of play. On cable volume controls are always nice to see, and they work quite well. The fact that it is a lurid shade of bright blue also means it should be nice and visible if you’re worried about creating a trip-wire. The braided design of the cable also means you don't end up holding it from a height to try and untwist it. That last point is one of the more important ones when buying gaming headphones – you never want the situation where you develop a crick in your neck because the cable is too short.Īt about two and a half metres, this is one concern that shouldn’t come up. Logitech’s G430 surround sound gaming headset basically hit all the sweetspots for me – good sound quality, reasonable comfort and a nice long cable to connect it to my PC.
